ALGAE PHOTOBIOREACTORS
Every aspect of Industrial Plankton’s photobioreactors can be adjusted to provide ideal growth parameters for practically any species of algae. This allows our systems to be incredibly productive and dependable.
Our photobioreactors eliminate nearly all of the repetitive and time consuming aspects of algae culturing, allowing operators to focus on the rest of their production. Our patented tank design significantly increases the volume that is sufficiently lit for algal growth. This allows cultures to grow even denser before light becomes limiting. Our custom LED spectrum is optimized for algae. Fanless LEDs and waterproof drivers deliver long life in harsh environments. With the touchscreen controls, optimizing the culture parameters is literally at your fingertips. Intuitively adjust critical parameters to effect growth. The proprietary software logs and graphs culture conditions in real-time which allows users to maximize production from their bioreactor. Using an integrated prob, our bioreactors constantly measure pH and add Carbon dioxide as it is requested to maintain optimal levels for production. The pH can be changed at any time using the intuitive user interface on the touchscreen or remotely from and enabled device. Each reactor has closed loop temperature control, and employs a custom heat exchanger and temperature control unit to heat or cool your culture to maintain your desired culture temperature. This provides the freedom to grow temperate, tropical or even some polar species in our PBRs. Our proprietary density sensor gives operators insight into what is happening with algae inside the photobioreactor. It allows users to manipulate vital parameters and see responses in real-time, allowing for more productive and reliable algae cultures that last longer. All water entering our bioreactors passes through several levels of filtration. Water is prefiltered down to 0.5µm, then passed through a UV sterilizer, then to an absolute 0.2µm filter then finally through a 0.1µm absolute capsule filter. This staged filtration ensures that water enters the bioreactor, without contaminants. The bioreactors can automatically harvest semi-continuously, continuously or at any time. It can be manually harvested in batch or to take samples for analysis. The bioreactor will automatically refill from harvest with the desired volume of fresh mediaOur custom bubble distribution system allows for excellent gas exchange and water motion, while being gentle enough to avoid cell damage from shear stress. The aeration moves algae between brightly lit and cell shaded areas at a rate that ensures the cells have optimal illumination. Industrial Plankton's bioreactors are built with biosecurity in mind, using triclamp plumbing, autoclavable tubing, a crevice free tank design, and a simple to use, built in self cleaning system. Cleaning is done in several stages, first a detergent spray cycle is used to remove biofilms, then a bleach spray cycle to sterilize. Inoculation is simple, just hook up an inoculant carboy or flask to the machine's harvest peristaltic pump, then use the software to draw the culture into the bioreactor without ever coming in contact with the outside world, ensuring that the only thing growing inside is what you deliberately put in. Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) are used throughout the world to automate mission critical industrial processed. Our PLCs deliver consistent reliable control, ensuring all vital parameters are constantly controlled, monitored, and logged.
